Little girl letting go

One little girl.
Swinging her way along a (quite exciting) set of climbing frame bars (feels good).
Gets a bit stuck. Gets very stuck.
Gripping the bars with both hands, white nuckles, looking downwards. (panic).

Sees arms underneath, just out of reach.
'Catch me!'

'Let go'. (gentle, calm, knowingly)

'CATCH ME!' (urgency)

'I will. Let go.' (assurance)

Slowly, uncurls one finger, then another (uncertainty)
One hand left on the bar (doubt)
The last five fingers unwrapped (gasp)

Falling (breath held)

Caught

Safe (sigh)

Hello again.

'When you come to the end of everything you know
And are faced with the darkness of the unknown,
Faith is knowing one of two things will happen.
Either there will be something solid for you to stand on,
Or you will be taught how to fly'.
